Matech BTA/Since 1964
Beaulieu Transmission Automatique – 1964
Matech BTA was founded in 1964 by Marc Beaulieu under the name Beaulieu Transmission Automatique. The beginnings were modest, with only one bay. Over the years, Mr. Beaulieu spared no effort to innovate in order to satisfy the needs of the customers. For the automatic transmission repair service, he added the distribution of new replacement parts, the remanufacturing of torque converters, the repair of drive shafts and Allison industrial transmissions.
Matech BTA - 1987
When the founder passed away in 1987, the company was acquired by René Valois, a professional chartered accountant, and Yves Pépin, who already owned a transmission repair business. They changed the company name for Matech BTA and undertook an important turnaround that was necessary to go on with the operations.
A Fresh Impetus with René Valois and his sons
At the beginning of the 1990s, René Valois became the sole owner and he gave Matech BTA a family vocation by integrating gradually his three sons between 1990 and 1996: Patrick who has a mechanical background, then Serge as production engineer and who is now CEO of the company, and finally Martin who is responsible for the sales team, marketing and business development. "During the 1990s, we have greatly developed our firm and extended Matech BTA's reputation by improving its structure, increasing considerably our service offering and enlarging our distribution channel", says Martin Valois. The growing demand for transmission components has required several reconfiguration and expansion works, as well as the opening of a strategic distribution point in Toronto, in 1999, still in operation with six employees. The company has then successfully met important technical and economic challenges of the years 2000. René Valois took a well-deserved retirement in 2003, but is still a board member and a valuable advisor. Moreover, in 2008, Matech BTA became the owner of Lemire Suspension, pursuing its diversification plan. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary with much pride in 2014.
A Complete Service Structure for Transmissions
The seven Matech BTA departments encompass all spheres related to both trucks and cars transmissions: car service; heavy vehicle service; sales of new parts and components; sales of used and remanufactured parts; and the electromechanical, torque converter and drive shaft departments.
"Our mission is also to offer services to workshops specialised in transmission repairs, all over Canada, as automatic transmission parts wholesaler." Our multifunctional team comprises sixty employees having a high level of specialization, and some of them have been with us for 25 years.
Our Strengths: Expertise and Quality
"I do not know any other company in Quebec and in Canada that owns such a complete structure. Our expertise based on experience, and our customer service with an employee assigned full time to technical assistance, are our greatest strengths. Also we devote considerable effort in constantly following up the technological development of a sector which is becoming more and more complex and sophisticated each and every day. We take part in a very select and global technical committee, with one of our American supplier, Sonnax, and our suggestions are often recognized. We are always studying new projects and looking for good business opportunities. Our objectives? Remain among the leaders in our field!"
